 | | Message in a bottle project | Jackson Preparatory Magnet is able to provide after school academic and
enrichment opportunities to grades 1-6 through grants
and community partnerships. Jackson is in the middle of a federal 21st
Century Community Learning Center grant, which provides resouces to
fund an expanded after school and summer school program. Our community
partners include: University of
Minnesota Extension Services- 4-H Urban Youth Learn, University of
Minnesota America Reads, The St. Paul
Conservatory of Music, Hmong American
Partnership, and Area Learning Center.
After school programs operate Monday through Thursday,
3:45pm-5:45pm during the
months of October-April. Depending on the grade, participants may have
the
option of attending Mon/Wed, Tues/Thurs., or all four days. There is a
healthy snack provided every day, as well as transportation to those
who are bused to school. Registration forms are sent home with students
in September, and must be returned before your child starts. Classes
are designed to serve children who are not at grade level in reading
and/or math.
There is also a small summer day camp that operates for an hour and
a half after regular ALC morning summer school. This day camp is open
to 2nd and 3rd graders who have not reached grade level in reading
and/or math.
If you have any questions or concerns, please fell free to call Emily Weiss, after school corrdinator, at 651-293-8650.
